WHAT THE HECK IS CO-WASHING?

Co-washing is a term short for conditioner washing.  Conditioner washing is great for us curlies because our hair have a tendency to be drier than straight hair.  The reason for this is because natural oils that comes from our scalp have a hard time lubricating our strands to the end.  Co-washing helps keep the hair hydrated and nourished. You can co-wash your hair as much as you like but if your hair becomes dull from product build up you should always clarify with a sulfate free shampoo or apple cider vinegar rinse.  Build up happens when you constantly co-wash without clarifying because of silicones.  Water soluble silicones wash easily from hair, non-water soluble silicones do not and that's when you have to clarify.  Co-washing is not for everyone, if you have oily hair it would just add more oil.  If your hair is dry it can moisturize your hair.  Here is an instructional video on how to co-wash by the lovely naptural85.  You can visit her blog at www.naptural85.com.

Do you co-wash, and if so how often?  What are some of the methods you use for moisture?  Please leave your comments in the box below, we greatly appreciate them!!
