Porosity refers to how much or how little your hair can absorb water or chemicals into the cuticle layers and the cortex of your strands. There is low porosity, normal porosity and high porosity.
Low Porosity - means that it's difficult for your hair to absorb moisture and it resist chemicals.
Normal Porosity - means your hair easily allows moisture to enter in and it stays in longer.
High Porosity - means your hair is badly damaged. The cuticle layers of your hair is lifted and will let moisture out easily.
How do you know which one you have? There is a porosity test you can take. Gently hold a strand or two of your dry hair between your finger and your thumb, slowly slide your fingers along the length of the strand.
